Kent MacDonald is a seventh-generation dairy farmer from Little Pond, PEI. He wants to give back to the communities that shaped him and be a strong voice for the Cardigan riding that listens -- and delivers.

Kent is the President of Pondsedge Farms, his family’s 1,000-head dairy farm that grows 1,700 acres of cropped land. He attended Dundas Consolidated and Souris Regional High School before Mount Allison University where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in marketing and management.

Kent is an active member of his community. He has been a Director, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman of Dairy Farmers of PEI, as well as Director and Vice-Chairman of the PEI Federation of Agriculture. Kent’s community involvement overlaps with his love of sports, and he has coached both minor hockey and tackle football on PEI.

Family is important to Kent, having grown up with five brothers and a sister. Pondsedge Farms is a family business with his brothers, nephew, and son. He has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 35 years, and they have one son, Alex. In his spare time, Kent enjoys reading, golf, and hiking with his two dogs, Chief and Baker.
