Richard Willott is a retired geophysicist who has lived in Calgary for over 60 years, most of that in the Dalhousie community. In the last decade or so, he has seen the political landscape deteriorate significantly, and his concern has led to action.
Richard is also greatly concerned about the strains being put on our environment and the need to prepare for climate changes.
The Six Principles shared by Green parties around the world struck a chord deep within him. These are (in no particular order):
- Sustainability
- Non-violence
- Social Justice
- Respect for Diversity
- Ecological Wisdom
- Participatory Democracy
He believes that without more transparency within the political sphere and more universal representation within government, without political reform, we will never be able to make significant progress in solving our many societal problems. He believes that these Six Principles are key to making this a better world and is prepared to work hard towards this.
