Luis Ibarra is a proud Mexican immigrant to Canada. Upon arriving, he founded Latinos Magazine, a bilingual (English-Spanish) publication that has been a key media outlet for the Latino community for over 10 years.

He studied communications in Mexico and holds diplomas in Marketing Strategies, Project Management, and Journalism. His work has earned him nominations from the Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and he recently won the Media Award from The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) in the Multicultural – Best In-Depth Feature or Series category.

Luis is an active member of his community, supporting newcomer organizations and mentorship programs. He strongly advocates for mental health, fair wages, and tax reductions for Canadians. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, he believes in fairness and equality for all.

Beyond publishing, he is also the founder of an initiative that promotes Canada as a destination for international students in Latin America. He has been a speaker in countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Panama, and Ecuador, educating students about the opportunities and challenges of studying in Canada.

Throughout his career, Luis has interviewed Ministers, Consulates, Ambassadors, and international artists. In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, spending time in nature, working on renovation projects, and learning about mental health.

In December 2024, he co-organized a charitable event that provided grocery bags, Christmas entertainment, free meals, and toys for over 1,000 attendees in need, ensuring a joyful holiday season for many families.

Luis proudly calls Toronto home while keeping Mexico in his heart. He sees his diverse background as a superpower.
