Dave McKee is a long-time peace and community activist who has lived in the Davenport riding for over 25 years.
“For decades, working people have been falling behind while corporations haul in record profits. Now, in the midst of a trade war with the US, along with a housing crisis and soaring prices on food and other basic necessities, we need to defeat the pro-corporate policies that successive federal governments have continued to implement, and push Ottawa to put peace and prosperity before war and austerity.”
A printer by trade, he served for several years as a union steward and negotiator at a large newspaper. “Just like working people need strong unions in the workplace, they need political parties and candidates who will stand up and fight for their interests, especially against corporations.”
Dave currently works as a journalist, researching and writing on labour, environmental and international issues. “We have a chance in this election to bring people together–including labour, Indigenous people, women and racialized and 2S/LGBTIQ+ communities–and build a movement that can mobilize for far-reaching reforms to put people and the planet before profits. That’s why I’m running on the Communist Party’s Peace and Prosperity, Not War and Austerity platform.”
