Maria grew up in Coronation Park, attending St. Philip and St. Peter, and then Archbishop MC O'Neill. She graduated from Scott Collegiate when her son was 18 months old. Through perseverance, Maria has continued toward her education goals. She is now going back to university, finishing what she started years ago in Education and Social Work.

Maria has two children she is very proud of. This is her main reason for running for MLA in the Green Party. She wants to make sure we have a province where our children can grow up in a sustainable economy.

Maria volunteers for RMRCA in the district where she has been residing for the past 22 years, and she has been a foster parent with Ranch Ehrlo in the Reunification Program and with the Ministry.

With a small break in the middle to go to school, Maria has been a Recreation Worker in Social Inclusion for the City of Regina over the past 16 years.

Maria’s exceptional range of experience has seen her working with adults with disabilities and mental illness in LGBTQ-sensitive and adaptive settings; she has done everything from Program Attendant to Program Coordinator, facilitating programs all around Regina.

She has worked as an Educational Assistant for Separate System PVSD, and now for Public System, for over 22 years.

Recently Maria started a 3rd job at Clare Parker.

Maria does this all as a single mother, always gaining more education keeping in sync with nature and staying protective of our environment. She often credits gardening and nature photography – and cooking and baking – with keeping her grounded.
